Laser-cut Wood Accessories

The main inspiration for this project is Will Scobie and his works. He describes his approach to illustration is that it “plays with the idea of the continuous line, whilst maintaining a graphic simplicity and communicating an idea through a playful and optimistic perspective” (Will Scobie).

I have always illustrated clothing and armors for imaginary characters, which is why I have decided to create a set of costume/accessories in real-life that could be interacted with. Nevertheless, I wanted to incorporate Scobie’s approach to illustration into this laser cutting project: to create a set of accessories with as few basic pieces to build as possible; each piece has to be minimal and yet not too simple

Laser Cutting Design:

The material used for the wood panels are birch plywood, for not only because they are cheap to acquire but because of their soft and easy to bend nature. This will helps the curves of the product fits nicer on the model.

To connect the wooden panels into a choker, I used a half-an-inch piece of wire to create a sewing needle, attached it to the rust-colored chain and looped them through small holes on those panels. For the shoulder parts of the set, I used same colored hoops to attach the panels together.
